Jade Productions, Inc., in conjunction with Super Summer Theatre proudly presents the musical WORKING.
Director--Joy Demain. Musical Director--Pat Demain. Choreographer—Kristin Gressley. Rehearsals begin the third
week in July and continue until the show opens on September 10. Performances run through September 26.
Adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso from the book WORKING by Pulitzer Prize Winner Studs Terkel, this timely musical
pays tribute to the spirit, hearts, and souls of America's citizens. WORKING weaves the story of America's common working
wo/man revealing the hopes, emotions, passions, and the spirit of the working class striving for their piece of the American
Dream.
The production includes songs by Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead, and James Taylor.
Musical styles include rhythm and blues, rock, Broadway, and folk. The monologues and the lyrics to the songs are genuine,
taken from Mr. Terkel's book of interviews of the American worker. Honesty, responsibility, championship is conveyed by each
character to the audience.
The show is wonderfully textured with all types of people, all types of characters, all types of opportunities for many
people to shine --for singers and non-singers alike. This large, multi-ethnic ensemble cast of characters range in age from
a nine year old boy to a retired gentleman.
